Disk Defragmentation - Tips to Defragment Your Disk Smoothly

Have you been annoyed by slow computer speed? It is true that defragmenting disks can improve computer speed. Since Windows has its own defragmenting program, most users are supposed to have a try of that try. Unfortunately, it is not so smooth to complete it perfectly.

You may have encountered many problems during the process. If not, it is still worthwhile for you reading this article, because it can make sure that defragmentation runs smoothly.

It is a must for you to close down all the running programs and just let defragmentation work alone. In other word, you are supposed to do nothing but perform defragmenting program only. This is because the system has to read data in the disk repeatedly during the defragmentation. Thus, the process may be interrupted and forced to start again and again. What is worse, it can result in system crashes under the unstable system. If you do not want such disaster to happen, please remember to shut down all the working applications ahead of defragmenting disk.

And, you can do some changes of computer on condition that you are quite familiar with computer. If the volume of hard disk and disk partition are small, it does not take too much time to defragment it. If not, as for those big disks and partitions with a mass of data, you had better be ready to wait for a long time. Therefore, you can shut down the program of optimizing parameters of the computer.

Then, you also need to consider the screen saver during defragmentation. The open screen saver can lead to disk defragmentation repeatedly. You can close down it manually or let system do it automatically by altering the registry. In the "Registry Editor", find "HKEY: CURRENT/USERS/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Applets" and change the default value as "YES". So, the system can replace your work to shut down it by itself.
